ChARIS Academy forms Christian public leaders through the study of Abraham Kuyper’s life, thought, and legacy, the core ideas of Neo-Calvinism, and their relevance for the church and society in Korea and beyond.
ChARIS Academy offers a 6+2 curriculum that introduces students to Abraham Kuyper’s life, thought, and legacy, the core ideas of Neo-Calvinism, and their significance for public theology and Christian public leadership. Beginning with a foundational study of Kuyper’s theological, social, and political contributions, the program moves into deeper conceptual exploration and prepares students for research-level study and contemporary application through engagement with primary sources. The research track presupposes prior training in Dutch for Theological Studies I and II.

This course is the first introductory module in the ChARIS Academy sequence. Beginning with Abraham Kuyper’s life and thought, it introduces the central ideas of Neo-Calvinism and their contemporary significance. Students will examine Kuyper’s theological contributions and public engagement, then explore common grace, sphere sovereignty, public theology, and their implications for church, education, politics, media, society, economy, and culture.
The course seeks to form students for faithful and responsible Christian public engagement within the realities of the Korean church and society. It provides a foundation for future research, teaching, writing, ministry, civic engagement, and public leadership shaped by Neo-Calvinist insight.
The course proceeds from Kuyper’s life and thought to central theological concepts, public application, and implications for the Korean church and society.
